Elephants with their trunks raised up high are symbols of prosperity and good fortune in many cultures. People often collect little craved elephants with upturned trunks for this reason. Sadly, their wild counterparts are not always fortunate. I wanted to create a piece that addresses the plight of wild elephants in our modern and ever-changing world.  I hope this very real elephant's wistful and watchful eye on the little wooden herd speaks to this magnificent animal's real dilemma.

I am very happy to say that "Keeping an Eye on the Herd" has been included in Artists for Conservation' 2024 collection, published in "The Art of Conservation 2024" and also part of the online exhibition.

In addition, it was also chosen for "Expanding Visions 2024" at Lyme Art Association, June-July 2024.

Later in 2026, it will travel to the Kenosha Public Museum in Wisconsin Acrylic International Biennial Juried Exhibition. You will find details on my events page.
